FUNCTION
Coordinate grounds functions including oversight of landscape projects, turf management, tree care, leaf removal, snow removal and maintenance of athletic fields and irrigation systems. In addition, the Grounds Coordinator will assist in grounds vehicle and equipment maintenance.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES
1. Coordinates work for mobile and on-site groundskeepers 2. Prepares daily, long-range and annual grounds work plans 3. Assists Facility Manager in maintaining inventory of grounds material, equipment, and contractual services for general maintenance as well as specific site improvement projects. 4. Prepares project plans and coordinates installation. 5. Inspect and verify contracted quoted work performed. 6. Periodically inspects schools' grounds for hazards and safety issues. 7. Trains grounds personnel in maintenance methods and standards required for the upkeep of the grounds. 8. Orient new hires, to include familiarization with tools and equipment and school grounds, as well as District policies and procedures. 9. Assist Manager with the development, coordination and implementation of preventive maintenance programs for all equipment used and maintained by ground personnel, and alert leadership of vehicle related issues 10. Remains up-to-date and informed on current practices in all local, state and federal codes and regulations related to grounds maintenance. 11. Attends meetings as required. 12. Perform all duties in a safe and professional manner and in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures. 13. Maintains pertinent grounds maintenance records including snow removal and tree care. 14. Participates in the District's computerized work management system and utilizes management reports to schedule, evaluate and improve plant health, and general landscape appearance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Same as custodian. 2. Five years' experience in professional grounds maintenance. 3. Certification in grounds management, sports turf management, arboriculture and/or pesticide application required. 4. Heavy equipment operation experience preferred. 5. Ability to use grounds maintenance tools and equipment as required. 6. Possess a valid driver's license and is insurable. 7. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. 8. Ability to maintain effective relations with supervisor and fellow employees. 9. Ability to follow and apply safety rules and regulations for job assignments and equipment used. 10. Ability to lift and carry items weighing 50 pounds with assistance. 11. Willing to be trained as required. 12. Computer knowledge and ability or commitment to gain knowledge and experience to use computerized programs such as email, internet word processing and spreadsheets.
