  • Full-time This Role Is About Stewardship, Leadership, and Creating Welcoming Spaces The Grounds Supervisor serves a vital role in advancing the mission of Lake Yale Baptist Conference Center by overseeing the care, appearance, and functionality of the campus grounds.
Through faithful stewardship, leadership, and attention to detail, this role helps create an environment that reflects excellence, safety, and Christ-centered hospitality. At Lake Yale, the condition of the grounds communicates care long before a word is spoken. The Grounds Supervisor helps ensure that guests arrive to spaces that are clean, welcoming, safe, and prepared for ministry. Primary Purpose As a member of the Executive Team, the Grounds Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the Grounds department, ensuring the campus landscape, exterior spaces, and related systems are maintained with excellence, efficiency, and consistency. This role provides leadership to grounds staff, coordinates projects and schedules, and supports the long-term operational goals of the ministry. Key ResponsibilitiesMission Alignment & Leadership Represent Lake Yale in a Christ-like manner to guests, staff, volunteers, and vendors Lead with humility, integrity, professionalism, and a servant's heart Foster a positive team culture rooted in accountability, stewardship, and cooperation Grounds Operations & Campus Stewardship Oversee maintenance and appearance of lawns, landscaping, irrigation systems, roads, walkways, signage, and exterior guest areas Ensure the campus remains clean, safe, and visually welcoming throughout the year Coordinate seasonal projects, storm preparation, cleanup efforts, and landscape improvements Monitor and maintain exterior lighting, trash removal, and campus presentation standards Team Leadership & Development Supervise, schedule, and support grounds staff and assigned volunteers Provide training, coaching, and accountability related to safety, equipment operation, and work standards Assist in evaluating staffing needs and recommending improvements to departmental operations Promote teamwork and collaboration across departments Equipment, Safety & Maintenance Oversee proper use, maintenance, and care of grounds equipment and vehicles Maintain safety standards and ensure compliance with operational procedures Monitor inventory and coordinate purchasing of grounds supplies and materials Assist in identifying and addressing campus hazards or maintenance concerns Vendor & Project Coordination Develop and maintain positive working relationships with vendors, contractors, and service providers Coordinate outside services and projects in support of campus operational and improvement goals Assist with planning and execution of grounds-related improvement initiatives Planning, Tracking & Continuous Improvement Assist with departmental planning, budgeting, and project prioritization Utilize scheduling, tracking, and operational systems to maintain efficiency and accountability Support long-term campus stewardship through proactive planning and preventive care Expectations & Working Environment Full-time, salaried, onsite position Physically active outdoor role in varying weather conditions Schedule may include weekends, evenings, emergency response, or storm preparation as needed Requires leadership presence, adaptability, and strong communication Required Skills & Competencies Experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, campus maintenance, or related leadership roles Knowledge of landscape maintenance, irrigation systems, and equipment operation Ability to supervise, train, and support a team effectively Strong organizational and problem-solving skills Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously Comfortable using basic computer systems, scheduling tools, communication platforms, and/or their mobile equivalent Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record preferred Spiritual & Cultural Alignment Lake Yale is a Christian ministry.
