Hiring Agency Tourism, Arts, & Heritage Cabinet | Kentucky Department of Parks Location 20781 Pennyrile Lodge Road Dawson Springs, KY 42408 USA Description Kentucky State Parks is pleased to offer an opportunity to maintain and oversee a beautiful Western Kentucky golf course in Dawson Springs, Kentucky. We are currently accepting applications for the Golf Course Superintendent position at Pennyrile Forest Park Golf Course. This is a full-time position, offering numerous benefits with the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and if you inquire about this job do not forget to ask about the Department of Parks "Park Familiarization Program" for full-time employees! The candidate with the appropriate experience and education will lead a group of golf course maintenance personnel to perform all tasks necessary to maintain and improve a very good golf course. This position requires a motivated individual that will employ a "hands-on" leadership style, and someone that enjoys performing all the tasks required to present our guests with an exceptional golfing experience. More information can be found at: https://parks.ky.gov/explore/pennyrile-forest-state-resort-park-golf-course-8151 Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Staff training and supervision Plant regulatory product applications Equipment operation Irrigation application, repair, and maintenance Golf course set-up activities Record keeping Some of the skills we are looking for are: Experience operating all equipment and performing all tasks associated with the maintenance of a golf course. Creating and managing a budget and managing an agronomic plan. Good communications skills. Ability to obtain and retain a Kentucky Pesticide License. Golf course construction/renovation experience a plus. Attention to detail. Time management. Leadership, teamwork, and decision-making skills. Preventative maintenance experience. Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION
Graduate of a college or university with an associate degree in plant science, turf management or a related field.

One year experience as a Golf Course Assistant Superintendent. Substitute

Three years as a golf course superintendent or golf course assistant superintendent in addition to a Certificate of Turfgrass Management from an accredited university can substitute for the required education.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
(AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification. Must obtain Kentucky Pesticide Applicator License within six months of employment. The N-18 Pesticide Applicators License required by this position can be obtained by passing the test administered by the Kentucky Department of Agriculture. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials. Working Conditions Work is typically performed outside in a variety of climatic conditions. Work involves use of potentially toxic materials such as insecticides, fungicides, and fertilizers. Probationary Period This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 9 months, except as provided in
KRS 18A.111.
