DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this classification is to manage and oversee recreation activities and personnel for a single large program area. This position is responsible for the aquatics section of Parks and Recreation, which includes the oversight of operations for six (6) city pools and the hiring of 300 seasonal positions annually.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in a field related to the job Four (4) years of related experience, one (1) year of which must have been at a management or supervisory level Additional years of related experience may substitute for years of education Additional years of related education may substitute for years of experience There are no substitutes for the required supervisory/management experience
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Develops, coordinates, manages, and promotes the activities and events associated with a major program area such as therapeutic recreation, arts, equestrian, fitness and wellness, athletics and community engagement Interviews, hires, trains, schedules, supervises, and evaluates staff and/or contractors Manages and oversees facilities and other resources for program area Performs administrative duties related to goals, objectives and performance including but not limited to budgeting, accounts payable, purchasing, payroll, data entry, reporting, and grant writing Coordinates, schedules, and conducts fitness test for participants and teach classes, as needed Represents LFUCG, the division and/or their program at various internal and external meetings and public functions and events Creates standards, educational materials, newsletters, and other publicity materials for the programs, as needed Performs related work as assigned
SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
All certifications and licenses must be maintained as a condition of employment. Valid driver's license First Aid and CPR/AED Certification must be obtained within first six (6) months of employment
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to work flexible hours and/or weekends, holidays, perform on-call duty, and split shifts when required. All positions require drug testing and background check before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16. This position within the Divisions of Parks and Recreation requires a Child Abuse and Neglect (CAN) check before employment.
