Job Description
Position Summary Village Green Landscaping is seeking an Irrigation Manager to lead and help build our irrigation division (90% of irrigation work currently sub-contracted). This is a hands-on, player-coach role for someone who can both manage work and actively participate in the field alongside the team. The ideal candidate is experienced in irrigation systems, organized, dependable, and willing to jump into broader landscape operations as needed during busy seasons. This role is well-suited for someone entrepreneurial who wants the opportunity to help shape and grow a division within an established and rapidly growing company. About Village Green Landscaping Village Green Landscaping provides comprehensive landscape management services for residential properties and mid-sized HOAs throughout Boston's MetroWest. Our services include landscape maintenance, enhancements, lawn care, and snow management. We pride ourselves on being relentlessly reliable, continuously improving, and protecting our reputation through quality work and strong client relationships. ResponsibilitiesIrrigation Operations Manage day-to-day irrigation operations, including: spring startups repairs and troubleshooting system audits mid-season service winterizations irrigation installations and upgrades water management Repair and install landscape lighting and sound systems (secondary function of this role) Diagnose and repair controllers, valves, heads, wiring, sensors, and zone/mainline issues Coordinate scheduling and routing for irrigation work Maintain organized records of completed work, proposals, and site notes Communicate with account managers and clients regarding irrigation issues and recommendations Assist in estimating and identifying enhancement opportunities related to irrigation systems Help develop processes, standards, pricing, and long-term structure for the irrigation division Maintain tools, equipment, inventory, and irrigation materials Player-Coach / Field Leadership Lead by example in the field and work alongside crews as needed Train and mentor technicians as the division grows Assist with broader landscape operations when needed, including: spring and fall cleanups mulch installations plantings general landscape maintenance support Support snow operations during winter events as needed Qualifications 5+ years of irrigation experience preferred Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic ability Experience with common commercial and residential irrigation systems and controllers Ability to operate independently and manage field priorities Strong communication and organizational skills Comfortable using mobile apps and technology for scheduling and communication Valid driver's license with clean driving record Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in varying conditions Preferred Qualifications Experience managing or leading crews Experience hiring and developing team members Experience in broader landscape maintenance or enhancement work Experience operating skid steers, compact equipment, or trenchers Deep knowledge of Hydrawise, Rachio, and B-Hyve systems Knowledge of Aspire, our landscape management system Compensation & Benefits Competitive pay based on experience Company vehicle Growth opportunity within a rapidly expanding company Paid time off and holidays Overtime opportunities Supportive, team-oriented culture Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is dependable, humble, hands-on, and motivated to help grow something long-term.
