Job Description:

TheCity of East Grand Forks, Minnesota(pop. 9,100) is seeking aPark and Recreation Superintendentwho wants to make a lasting impact on the places people gather, play, and connect. The Park and Recreation Superintendent performs complex professional and administrative work planning, organizing and directing all recreation and parks activities for the city; preparing and maintaining related records, reports and files; administering budgets and grants; and related work. Work is performed under the general direction of the City Administrator. Supervises an 8-member department along with numerous seasonal staff; manages approximately $2.5 million annual operational budget for the Greenway, cemetery, campground, senior center, park programs, playground equipment, tree and flower planting and removal, the pool and tennis facilities and events; coordinates special events with other staff.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in parks and recreation administration or related field and extensive experience working in parks and recreation administration with some supervisory responsibility, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Qualified candidates will be forward thinking, take charge leaders with excellent communication, interpersonal and management skills. Previous experience planning and directing park and recreation operations/programs and preparing and administering budgets required. Must be able to build effective working relationships with City staff, elected officials, and the general public.

Salary Range:

$89,575.55 to $123,748.45. The City offers a competitive salary and fringe benefit package including paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave, health and life insurance, a retirement plan and a flexible benefits plan.
