WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The Grounds Supervisor is primarily responsible for overseeing all aspects of the year-round grounds operations and ensuring a safe, efficient, and high-quality visual experience for guests and staff. This leadership role includes oversight of the ground's maintenance and functions. The supervisor works closely with other resort departments to optimize operations, maintain budgetary discipline, and enhance guest satisfaction while upholding Bear Creek and Southern Management cultural standards as well as essential environmental sustainability and safety standards.

Promote and foster a culture of team member engagement and active communication throughout the resort.
Operations Management:
Oversee daily grounds operations, including landscaping, plantings, irrigation, indoor/outdoor features and snow removal. Coordinate with Snowmaking, Grooming, Security, Facility Maintenance, Sales/Events, etc. to support resort-wide needs, weddings and events. Utilize and oversee the Maintain X (or equivalent) maintenance software system for work orders and preventive maintenance. Implement and manage inclement weather staffing schedules and response plans. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, safety codes, inspections and environmental policies. Conduct regular inspections of resort grounds and wedding ceremony sites. Manage grounds-related trash and debris removal during ski season, weddings and events.
Team Leadership & Staff Development:
Hire, schedule, train and mentor grounds team members; set clear expectations and provide ongoing feedback. Develop and deliver training focused on safety, efficiency, equipment use and guest service. Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, professionalism and strong communication. Apply performance management practices to support growth and maintain standards.
Equipment & Infrastructure Management:
Plan and execute approved repair, upgrade, enhancement and new-feature projects within budget and timelines. Maintain and ensure safe operation of landscaping and snow-removal equipment; coordinate vendor/service support as needed. Ensure safety standards to protect guests and team members at all times.
Guest Experience & Resort Collaboration:
Partner with resort departments to enhance the guest experience through well-presented, functional outdoor spaces. Create and maintain an inviting, aesthetically pleasing environment across all guest-facing areas.
Sustainability and Safety:
Schedule and coordinate safety inspections, routine maintenance and documentation in areas of responsibility. Promote environmentally responsible practices in landscaping, materials use and waste management

Acknowledge all guests and respond promptly to their needs, however busy and whatever time of day. Ensure unresolved incidents are reported to Manager/Supervisor Familiarity with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately Contribute to the team's success by accomplishing tasks and assisting with projects as needed Maintain knowledge and compliance with departmental policies, service procedures, and standards Work as a team member to ensure our guests have the best possible experience Understand emergency procedures and be able to apply them when necessary Report any incidents, property damage or injuries immediately to Manager Attend department meetings and training sessions as necessary Other duties as assigned by Manager Support Southern Management's Mission, Vision, and Values Comply with Bear Creek and Southern Management's policies and procedures
QUALIFICATIONS
2-3 years of experience in landscaping/grounds maintenance required; resort or hospitality experience a plus. Proven leadership with experience supervising teams, budgets and projects. Strong problem-solving, decision-making and delegation skills. High School Diploma or equivalent required Availability during peak operating times (weekends, ski season, holidays, special events and inclement weather)
JOB KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Solid knowledge of landscaping, horticulture principles, irrigation and grounds maintenance best practices. Hands-on experience with landscaping and snow removal equipment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and maintenance/project software (e.g., Maintain X). Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Organized and detail oriented Excellent time management skills; able to prioritize and perform effectively under pressure while maintaining guest satisfaction.
