Job Description
Assists with developing annual budgets and capital plans. Manages expenses within the department in accordance with the property directive. Maintains ongoing awareness of all agronomic activity on the course and provides constant feedback and direction to key staff members. Maintains clear understanding of and implements all Troon Golf Agronomy standards in addition to ensuring compliance with all local, state and federal regulatory standards/laws. Supports the planning, organizing, and direction of the maintenance and construction. Ensures proper mixing, calibration, and application of all chemical/fertilizers used on the course. Provides timely and accurate reporting of all financial and non-financial information as directed, requested or required by the Director of Agronomy, Troon Golf representatives, the DOG or GM. Implements sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors, when possible. Ensures that they and all associates obtain proper training and/or licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within city, state, and federal regulations. Addresses directly all real or perceived environmental concerns. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Ensures both upward and downward communication within the department and inter-departmentally. Provides leadership and a positive working environment that fosters teamwork, communication, ethical behavior, cleanliness and a "can do" attitude. Directly supervises department members that may include, but is not limited to: Assistant Superintendent, 2nd Assistant Superintendent, Head Mechanic, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Greenskeeper, and Irrigation Technician. Regular and reliable attendance. Incorporates safe work practices in job performance. Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or five to eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience (Degree preference in agronomy/ horticulture/ plant/soil science). Experience in the Florida Panhandle Region and as a Superintendent (preferred). Regularly stands, walks and sits. Regularly uses hands, reaches with arms and hands, talks or hears. Occasionally climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, crawls, tastes or smells. Regularly lifts up to 50 pounds. Occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, fumes and/or airborne particles. Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. Noise level is moderate. Valid Driver's License. Pesticide Application License. Ability to read and speak English is required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates are required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English). Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
