Description Job Title Youth Groundskeeper Location Fairbanks, AK, US Organization Name Tribal Government & Client Services Job Summary Job Summary:
The TCC Groundskeeper incumbent will be responsible for maintaining the interior and exterior grounds of Morris Thompson Cultural & Visitors Center set up by facilities manager, and other duties as assigned. This position requires physical abilities to lift, carry/move storage files, boxes and equipment. Job incumbent will primarily be working outside with landscaping equipment around the building. Working conditions may include but are not limited to occasional adverse weather conditions, bugs and mosquitoes. Groundskeeper will be trained and tested to safely run, operate, and maintain power mowers, power weed trimmers, power hedge trimers, and ATVs in busy, high traffic and densely populated/tourist environments. Groundskeeper will be required to wear and maintain in good condition the provided personal protective equipment. Groundskeeper will show and continually exercise safe work habits and positive attitude. Adhere to the TCC Ch'eghwtsen' model of service and guiding principle which requires providing timely and effective service along with the ability to interact with others in a way that inspires trust and demonstrates respect, compassion and empathy.

Representative Duties:
Under general supervision of the Cultural Program Coordinator, job incumbent will: 1. Assist in the daily operations of the MTCVC building facilities, including maintenance of the Alaska Native traditional garden, grass, and sidewalks. 2. Work closely with MTCVC Facilities Manager to maintain the grounds of MTCVC.
Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualification:
1. High school student - currently enrolled 2. Knowledge of general computer application such as Word Processing, Excel Spreadsheets, Adobe and Microsoft Office. 3. Applicants eighteen years or older must pass background check pursuant to federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements and State of Alaska background check.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Must possess strong oral and written communication skills. 2. Demonstrated ability to work on a team and independently. 3. Attentive to detail. 4. Maintain confidentiality. 5. Excellent verbal communication skills. 6. Strong organizational and time management skills. 7. Practicing safe measures and precautions instructed by supervisor. 8. Complete work assignments within given time frames. 9. Being safe and aware of their partners and other workers. 10. Be respectful and mindful of public visitors.
Supervision:
This position has no supervisor responsibilities.
Supervision Physical demands:
Heavy lifting up to 50 lbs, carrying and holding various tools/items, recurring bending, stooping, and walking.
Summation Schedule:
Monday - Friday; 4 hours per day
