Job Description
Job Summary Glacier Nalu is looking for a dedicated Groundskeeper to join our growing team in Juneau, Alaska. If you take pride in your work, enjoy working outdoors, and like maintaining and improving properties, we'd love to hear from you. The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the overall appearance, safety, and functionality of the campground. This role involves daily upkeep, landscaping, building and property maintenance, and customer service to ensure a pleasant experience for guests and tenants.
Duties Daily Operations:
Maintenance Tasks:
Inspect and address any water system and electric issues at the park, manage garbage and recycling, and landfill/dump runs.
Upkeep:
Sweep decks and stairs, water plants, refill propane tanks, clean outdoor grills, cookstoves, tables, and windows regularly. Supply and material procurement runs as needed. Groundskeeping /
Landscaping:
Seasonal Care:
Perform tree trimming, weed eating, planting flower beds, raking sites, and light chainsaw work; assist with trail improvements and new construction projects.
Cleanup:
Manage debris, garbage, pet waste, and general landscaping needs.
Site Maintenance:
Seasonal Care:
Assist with pre/post season set up and take down of park tents, gazebos, and camp sites. Inspect campsites before and after guests check-in/out. Sweep steps/deck for the tiny homes and rake the yard area for the tiny homes between reservations as necessary. Clean glamping tents at the end of each season.
Cleanup:
Manage debris, garbage, pet waste, and general landscaping needs in all sites.
Building Maintenance:
Routine Upkeep:
Conduct light construction, power wash buildings, maintain tiny homes, sauna areas, Elevated Glamping areas, clean furniture, and handle painting/staining as necessary.
Equipment Maintenance:
Service and maintain tractors and other vehicles.
Winter Maintenance:
Routine Upkeep:
Clear snow from walkways, parking areas, park equipment, front office stairs and ramp, and tiny homes sites, and sauna areas. Spread ice melt on front office stairs, ramp, dumpster area, tiny home decks/stairs/parking area. Snow plow campground with work truck.
Equipment Maintenance:
Service and maintain snow plow, truck, and tractor.
Customer Service:
Guest Relations:
Maintain a friendly demeanor and assist guests with any needs or issues. Deliver firewood or other supplies to guest campsites as requested.
Issue Reporting:
Report major problems promptly to the Office Manager and coordinate with professional services for technical repairs.
Additional Duties:
Perform other tasks as requested by management.
Skills and Qualifications:
Strong attention to detail and ability to perform a variety of maintenance tasks. Knowledge of groundskeeping techniques and building maintenance. Basic electrical troubleshooting skills, including replacing fuses and checking/replacing electrical receptacles. Ability to track and manage maintenance equipment and supplies. Ability to operate and maintain equipment such as tractors and snow plows. Excellent customer service skills and a friendly attitude. Ability to work independently and respond to issues in a timely manner. Flexibility with work hours, especially during the winter months with snow removal. Must be 21 years or older to meet auto insurance requirements. Clean background check and driving record.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs+ Capable of working in various weather conditions. Comfortable with manual labor including, but not limited to: using a chainsaw for trimming trees, using a weedeater, shoveling snow, and performing general maintenance.
