SUMMARY:
Performs a variety of maintenance and limited groundskeeping duties to ensure district buildings, grounds, and equipment are clean, safe, and functioning effectively for students and staff. Primary focus is on facility maintenance tasks, while providing support to groundskeeping as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintenance-Focused Responsibilities Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems (within capabilities and certifications). Repairs building components such as walls, ceilings, floors, windows, and doors. Maintains and repairs maintenance equipment including vacuums, floor machines, and tools. Provides basic welding, painting, and carpentry services. Reads and responds to work orders in Incident IQ, prioritizing based on urgency. Trains and supports maintenance and custodial staff as needed. Maintains communication with custodial leads to ensure proper upkeep of facilities. Checks inventories, prepares supply/chemical orders, and ensures safe handling using SDS procedures. Completes maintenance reports and communicates repair methods and cost estimates to leadership. resource efficiency, and policy compliance are key areas of focus. Light Groundskeeping duties Assists with grounds projects such as weed control, trimming, and irrigation system maintenance. Operates light outdoor equipment such as mowers or trimmers occasionally. Assists with snow removal and general seasonal tasks as needed. Provides support for event setup (e.g., moving furniture or equipment).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge of maintenance tools and techniques across trades. Familiarity with OSHA regulations and district safety standards. Ability to operate maintenance and light groundskeeping equipment. Strong problem-solving skills with minimal supervision. Effective verbal and written communication. Professional interaction with students, staff, and the public. Ability to handle conflict and work under pressure.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum 1 year experience in facility maintenance; experience in the trades preferred. Valid AZ Driver's License Criminal justice/fingerprint clearance Ability to use Google Suite for email and work order systems (Incident IQ).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand and walk. The employee may be required to move ten pounds and could occasionally lift or move up to twenty-five pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Indoor and outdoor work, subject to various weather conditions and moderate to high noise levels. Frequent interaction with staff, students, and the public.
