Job Description

NOW HIRING
    PART-TIME
      RIDGEFIELD WEDDINGS & EVENTS
      Lead Gardener Part-time, seasonal flexibility
      • On-site, Ridgefield Estate
      • Formal terrace garden "Our terrace garden isn't just a place.
On the best days, it's the first thing guests remember — and we'd like to find the person who feels the weight of that." Ridgefield Weddings & Events is a formal estate venue where couples celebrate the most important days of their lives. At the heart of it is our terrace garden — a structured, seasonal space with blooming borders, container plantings, and stone-framed beds that need to look their absolute best throughout the event season. This is a part-time role. But the right person won't think of it that way. They'll think of it as a space that's theirs to shape — where the decisions they make about color, succession planting, and seasonal rhythm show up in the photographs people keep forever. What the work involves
      • Maintaining the terrace garden beds, borders, and container plantings to a high ornamental standard
      • Planning seasonal rotations so the garden is at its peak around key event dates
      • Pruning, deadheading, edging, and soil care — the unglamorous work done with real attention
      • Light collaboration with our property manager/owner on garden presentation for weddings and private events
      • Managing pests, plant health, and irrigation with a practiced eye
      • Bringing your own aesthetic sensibility — we want someone who notices what's missing, not just what needs fixing What we're looking for
      • Genuine experience in formal garden settings — you know the difference between growing things and growing them well
      • Confidence with perennials, annuals, and seasonal succession planting in a structured design
      • Someone who takes personal pride in the work — who notices when something's slightly off and fixes it without being asked
      • Comfortable with physical outdoor work in all conditions
      • No formal qualifications required — your track record and your eye matter far more
