Job Description Summary/Objective:
The Laborer supports forestry, logging, and construction operations by performing a variety of physically demanding tasks. Responsibilities include preparing worksites, handling and processing timber, assisting with equipment maintenance, and ensuring a safe work environment. Laborers may also be required to operate equipment as needed, following all safety protocols. This role requires strong attention to detail, adherence to safety procedures, and a commitment to teamwork. Laborers must be adaptable to changing work conditions, work efficiently under supervision, and contribute to the overall success of the team. This position requires travel, and staying at the Project job site Monday through Friday for projects located within Northern California.
Essential Functions:
Prepare sites by cleaning the site, loading or unloading materials, and removing hazards. Survey, evaluate, and take measures to ensure work area is safe from any dangers (powerlines, utilities, co-workers, etc.), complying with all safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations. Perform selective tree thinning. Use good judgement regarding site, terrain, and weather conditions for safe equipment operation. Segment felled trees into individual logs using a tape measure and lumber crayons, to then sort, stack, and load onto trucks by sizes and conditions. Perform various inspections throughout the day on equipment to check and maintain proper fluid levels, performance of the equipment, etc., using the company checklist as a guideline. Maintain good housekeeping on equipment and regularly inspect the worksite to identify and address cleanliness and organizational issues to prevent any issues. Report any equipment needs such as maintenance or repairs, or any hazards, promptly to ensure timely resolution. Follow work order instructions from the supervisor, ensuring tasks are completed reliably and on time while maintaining regular attendance and punctuality. Operate equipment as needed, following safety guidelines, proper training methods and adhering to company procedures. Follow proper procedures and conduct regular inspections when operating or maintaining equipment to minimize the potential for damage. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
None Work Environment:
All work is performed outside in various types of weather (i.e. heat, cold, wind, sun and inclement weather, etc.) Exposure to all types of terrain. Exposure to all elements of nature on a regular basis. Exposure to loud noise. Exposure to fumes, odors, gases, dust, etc. Physical Demands - The physical demands below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: Must have excellent visual and auditory physical capabilities in order to manage sight and sounds in hazardous work environments. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Coordination between hands, eyes, and feet to guide equipment and objects is required. Must be able to push and pull with hands, arms, and feet repetitively. Must be able to push, pull, climb, sit, and stretch regularly while performing the essential functions of the job. Must be able to be alert and cognitive of multiple concurrent activities, including awareness of other employees, subcontractors, machinery, equipment, and moving traffic when applicable. Must be able to work around loud noises. Must be able to mount and dismount safely off vehicles and equipment. Must be able to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks. Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Must be able to work overtime as requested. Must be able to walk on uneven terrain. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Travel Required:
This position requires travel outside the local area, primarily within Northern California, staying on the project site. Employees are responsible for arranging transportation to and from project sites.
Required Education and Experience:
Minimum 1 year experience with forestry or construction labor duties.
Preferred Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Forestry experience:
1 year Ability to operate a chainsaw safely. 1 year Mechanical equipment experience: 1 year
Additional Eligibility Requirements:
Must have a valid Driver's License. Must provide a clean driving record: 5 years May be required to drive personal vehicle to multiple worksites during the workday. Proof of current/active automobile insurance if driving personal vehicle and assigned to multiple sites. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen. Cellphone for communication, timecard entry, and scheduling.
