Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dedicated Landscape Laborer to join our dynamic team, supporting the maintenance and enhancement of outdoor environments. This role involves performing a variety of manual and technical tasks to ensure landscapes are healthy, attractive, and well-maintained. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for outdoor work. This position offers an opportunity to develop skills in landscape maintenance, horticulture, and construction while contributing to the beautification of public and private spaces. Duties Assist with landscape installation, including planting trees, shrubs, and flowers with precision and care. Operate hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently for tasks such as edging, trimming, mowing, and pruning. Perform lawn care activities including mowing, aerating, fertilizing, and weed control to maintain healthy turf. Support landscape maintenance by watering plants, mulching beds, and applying irrigation systems effectively. Participate in hardscape projects involving the installation of patios, walkways, retaining walls, and other features. Conduct tree care activities such as trimming, pruning, and removal using appropriate techniques and equipment like excavators when necessary. Assist with seasonal tasks such as snow plowing and removal to ensure safety during winter months. Maintain equipment through routine cleaning and minor repairs to ensure operational readiness. Support construction projects by preparing sites, digging trenches, and assisting with material handling. Follow safety protocols diligently while working with machinery like excavators or other heavy equipment. Experience Previous experience in landscaping or groundskeeping is preferred but not mandatory; on-the-job training will be provided for motivated candidates. Knowledge of horticulture principles including plant care, soil management, and landscape design is advantageous. Familiarity with the use of hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruners, and power tools including trimmers and blowers is essential. Mechanical knowledge related to maintaining landscaping equipment will be beneficial. Experience working with irrigation systems or in garden maintenance enhances suitability for this role. Understanding of construction practices related to hardscape installation is a plus. Ability to operate machinery such as excavators or snow plows safely is desirable but not required; training can be provided for qualified applicants.
