About Us Located in Morrow, Georgia, Clayton State University is roughly 15 miles southeast of downtown Atlanta. Job Summary This position performs entry-level landscaping duties, including both maintenance and installation tasks. Responsibilities may include operating mowers, trimmers, and blowers; picking up trash; planting; and pruning. The position reports to the Landscape Supervisor and the Assistant Director of Landscape Management. Responsibilities Performs landscaping duties, including operating mowers, string trimmers, edgers, blowers, chainsaws, and other motorized and non-motorized equipment. Prunes shrubs and trees, waters annual flowers, sprays weeds, and removes trash from campus grounds. Plants trees, shrubs, turf-grass, annuals, and perennials. Applies herbicides for weed control in designated areas. Services and maintains equipment such as mowers, edgers, string trimmers, blowers, and chainsaws. Remains available to respond during emergencies. Conducts daily campus safety walks to identify hazards or maintenance needs. Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Valid Georgia driver's license required. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Ability to perform constant, physically demanding labor and safely move or operate equipment weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Ability to wear required safety and protective equipment. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Ability to perform basic landscaping tasks, including mowing, trimming, planting, pruning, and general grounds upkeep. Knowledge of routine landscaping maintenance practices at an entry level. Ability to carry out outdoor labor, including debris and trash removal.
