This role is responsible for operating stump grinding equipment, assisting with ground crew responsibilities, and helping maintain safe and efficient job sites. The ideal candidate is comfortable working outdoors, operating equipment, and supporting climbers and crew leaders with tree removals, pruning, and cleanup. Key Responsibilities Operate stump grinders safely and efficiently to remove tree stumps and surface roots following tree removals Assist climbers and crew leaders with daily tree care operations and ground support tasks Operate equipment such as stump grinders, chainsaws, wood chippers, blowers, and other tree care tools Manage ropes and assist with rigging support during tree removals and pruning operations Load, move, and dispose of brush, logs, wood, and debris to keep job sites clean and organized Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and cleaning of stump grinders, tools, and equipment Maintain safe work practices and follow company, ANSI, and OSHA safety standards Communicate with crew members to support smooth, efficient job completion Qualifications Prior experience operating stump grinders, heavy equipment, tree care equipment, landscaping equipment, or outdoor labor preferred Experience in tree care, landscaping, grounds maintenance, or construction is a plus Ability to lift heavy materials (50+ lbs) and work outdoors in varying weather conditions Comfortable operating power tools and equipment with basic mechanical knowledge preferred Strong focus on safety, teamwork, and following directions on active job sites Valid driver's license required, CDL is a plus Reliable work ethic with a willingness to learn and grow within the company What We Offer Competitive hourly pay with overtime opportunities On the job training and career advancement opportunities within tree care operations Health, dental, vision, paid time off, and retirement benefits Supportive team environment focused on safety, skill development, and career growth Access to professional grade tools and equipment Benefits Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance 401(k) Paid Time Off About us: Herrington Tree Services is a premier provider of tree care services, committed to preserving and improving the health, safety, and appearance of trees in residential and commercial properties.
