The Department of Parks and Recreation , Park Maintenance and Recreation Services is seeking a dependable and hands-on Grounds Keeper-Truck Driver! This full-time, permanent position, located in Kaneohe , involves performing groundskeeping and refuse removal duties and regularly operating a ¾-ton or light truck. What You Will Do Operate a ¾-ton truck to haul rubbish, trimmings, equipment, supplies, and materials to and from parks; pick up power mowers for repair and deliver completed equipment to worksites. Clean and maintain park areas by trimming, weeding, watering campgrounds, picnic areas, and landscaped grounds; clean comfort stations, showers, and charcoal disposal bins. Mow and maintain grounds by operating a push lawn mower to trim grassed areas, sidewalks, park spaces, and beach right-of-ways. Maintain assigned vehicle by performing minor repairs and routine servicing, including fueling, oil checks, and cleaning. Clean and maintain facilities such as recreation centers, gymnasiums, ornamental fountains, ball fields, and parking lots as assigned. Perform other related duties as needed. Special Working Conditions Work schedule is five days a week from 6:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., with varying days off. May be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays based on operational needs. This position will serve as a Disaster Response worker during declared emergencies. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
: Some experience and/or training in the operation of light trucks or other light motorized equipment representative of the class.
Must be able to:
Operate and understand the capabilities of a light truck. Apply general maintenance practices for motorized equipment. Follow laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations for operating vehicles on streets and highways. Recognize hazards and follow safety precautions when operating a truck. Learn to care for and maintain lawns and landscaped areas. Learn to operate hand and power equipment and tools used in grounds maintenance. Recognize mechanical and operational defects in equipment. Learn rules and regulations and enforce them with tact and courtesy. Handle weights and loads safely.

Current State Department of Transportation (DOT) medical examination certificate. Obtain and maintain from the City's Health Services, a Hearing Conservation Program (HCP) test.
