Maintenance Supervisor Job Summary:

The Groundskeeper at Waialae Gardens is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of the property's landscaping and outdoor areas. This role involves regular lawn care, tree and shrub maintenance, irrigation system upkeep, and general groundskeeping duties to ensure a well-maintained and inviting environment for residents.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine landscaping tasks, including mowing, trimming, edging, weeding, pruning, and planting.
• Maintain and operate irrigation systems, ensuring proper watering schedules and troubleshooting minor issues.
• Remove debris, trash, and fallen leaves from walkways, parking areas, and green spaces.
• Inspect and maintain outdoor furniture, signage, and common area features.
• Assist in pest and weed control efforts to preserve the health of the landscape.
• Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of groundskeeping equipment and tools.
• Identify and report any safety hazards or needed repairs to the supervisor.
• Conduct property-wide trash collection rounds Monday through Friday, and sometimes Saturday
• Ensure all common areas, walkways, and grounds are kept free of litter and waste.
• Support seasonal landscaping projects and improvements as needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Prior experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or related fields preferred.
• Knowledge of basic horticulture, irrigation systems, and lawn care equipment.
• Ability to operate tools such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and hand tools safely.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand, walk, bend, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Basic understanding of safety procedures and proper equipment handling.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a residential or commercial property setting.
• Knowledge of native Hawaiian plants and sustainable landscaping practices.
• Valid driver's license and ability to operate small utility vehicles (if required).

Work Environment:

This role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, humidity, and rain. The position requires physical labor, standing for long periods, and handling landscaping equipment.
