This role combines hands-on horticultural work with crew leadership, route efficiency, quality control, and client-facing professionalism. The Garden Crew Leader sets the standard for detail, plant health, property presentation, and consistency across all maintenance accounts. They are responsible for executing and maintaining the established Gold Standard in garden care, ensuring properties are maintained at a high level of visual and biological health. Essential Duties & Responsibilities A) Field Leadership & Crew Management Lead daily garden routes and assign work clearly to crew members. Set pace and expectations for productivity, detail, and quality. Train and coach crew members in proper horticultural techniques. Monitor performance, accountability, and jobsite conduct. Maintain crew morale while addressing performance issues promptly. Ensure route completion on schedule and within labor expectations. B) Garden Maintenance & Horticultural Execution Oversee and perform: Detailed weeding and bed maintenance. Pruning, shaping, and deadheading of plants. Seasonal cutbacks and plant care. Mulching and bed edge definition. Soil conditioning and plant health support. Identify plant health issues including pests, disease, nutrient deficiencies, and irrigation stress. Ensure all work meets established quality and aesthetic standards. Maintain clean lines, symmetry, and visual appeal across properties. C) Irrigation, Spray, & Plant Health Coordination Monitor irrigation performance and identify issues (coverage, leaks, timing). Communicate irrigation concerns to the Irrigation Technician. Coordinate with the Spray Technician for pest/disease treatment needs. Assist with minor irrigation adjustments when trained/authorized. Ensure plant health is proactively managed, not just maintained. D) Route Management & Jobsite Organization Execute efficient daily routes based on schedule and property needs. Manage time effectively to meet production and quality targets. Ensure tools, materials, and supplies are stocked and organized. Maintain clean, professional job sites throughout service. Complete end-of-day cleanup and ensure properties are client-ready. E) Tools, Equipment, & Vehicle Oversight Ensure proper use, care, and accountability of all tools and equipment. Perform daily checks on tools (hand tools, blowers, trimmers, etc.). Maintain organized trucks and trailers. Ensure safe operation of all equipment by crew members. Report damaged or missing tools immediately. F) Client Interaction & Property Stewardship Serve as the primary on-site representative for maintenance clients. Maintain a professional, respectful, and clean presence on all properties. Address basic client questions while redirecting scope changes to management. Ensure properties consistently reflect high-end care and attention to detail. Protect client property, furnishings, and surrounding areas during work. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Safety-Critical Duties (Role-Specific) This position includes leadership-level safety responsibilities.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements Outdoor work in Idaho weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, wind, dust). Frequent bending, kneeling, lifting, and repetitive hand motion. Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs (team lift when required). Extended standing and walking across multiple properties daily. Use of hand tools, power tools, and small equipment. Reasonable accommodations may be provided in accordance with applicable law.
The Garden Crew Leader must:
Enforce PPE compliance (gloves, eye protection, etc.) across the crew at all times. Lead daily safety awareness related to tools, weather, and environment. Monitor safe use of pruning tools, trimmers, and blowers. Identify and mitigate hazards (slips, uneven terrain, wildlife, debris). Enforce heat/cold stress safety protocols and hydration. Report all incidents, near misses, and hazards immediately. Stop work if unsafe conditions exist.Please Note:

QualificationsRequired:
2+ years of experience in gardening, landscaping, or horticulture. Strong knowledge of plant care, pruning, and seasonal maintenance practices. Ability to lead a small crew and maintain accountability. Strong attention to detail and pride in finished work. Ability to work efficiently while maintaining high quality standards. Valid driver's license.Preferred:
Advanced plant knowledge (perennials, shrubs, ornamental trees). Experience with irrigation systems and plant water requirements. Experience identifying plant pests and diseases. Prior leadership or crew lead experience. Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication ability. Workplace Conduct Requirements (Client Property) The Garden Crew Leader must: Never allow crew members to enter client homes/buildings without authorization. Maintain a quiet, respectful, and professional presence on properties. Act as the communication point between the crew and the client. Immediately correct unprofessional behavior or property misuse.Pay:
