Immediate About Salt Creek Club Salt Creek Club is a premier family-oriented swim and tennis facility nestled in the beautiful village of Hinsdale, Illinois. Established in 1958, our 9-acre property features 12 Har-Tru surface tennis courts often cited as the best outdoor courts in Chicago (open April through October) and an exceptional swimming facility (open Memorial Day through Labor Day). We're seeking a skilled Groundskeeper to help maintain our property as a welcoming oasis for our members. Position Overview We are seeking an experienced, dedicated Groundskeeper with a horticulture background, to maintain and enhance the natural beauty of our facility. This position is ideal for a landscaping professional with extensive knowledge of plants and grounds maintenance who can help us refine our outdoor spaces and ensure they thrive throughout all seasons. The role offers a flexible schedule with the potential to grow from part-time to full-time employment. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and maintain seasonal landscape plans throughout the property Maintain and improve the club's grounds through mowing, edging, trimming, and weeding lawns and landscaped areas Plant and nurture flower beds, shrubs, and trees, selecting species that will flourish in our Midwest climate Monitor and maintain irrigation systems to support plant health and ensure efficient water usage Prune trees and shrubs to encourage growth and maintain an appealing appearance Diagnose and treat plant issues such as pests or diseases using environmentally conscious methods Address drainage issues and implement erosion control measures Keep pathways, parking areas, and recreational spaces (tennis courts and pool surroundings) clear of debris Operate and maintain landscaping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, and blowers Implement sustainable landscaping practices where possible Collaborate with pool and tennis court maintenance teams Work with club management to plan and execute landscape improvement projects Qualifications Minimum 5 years of professional experience in landscaping or groundskeeping, ideally with large properties In-depth knowledge of Midwest plants, trees, and shrubs, including native and ornamental varieties and their adaptation to the local climate Experience with irrigation systems, drainage solutions, and landscape design Proficiency in operating and maintaining groundskeeping equipment safely and effectively Ability to manage seasonal priorities and execute year-round maintenance plans Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Familiarity with sustainable landscaping techniques and soil care Physical ability to perform outdoor manual labor in all weather conditions, including lifting up to 50 pounds Valid driver's license and reliable transportation High school diploma or equivalent; certification in horticulture, landscape management, or related field preferred Pesticide applicator license a plus Eligible to work in United States - Documents verifying Preferred Skills Experience with recreational facility maintenance (e.g., tennis courts or pool areas) Understanding of seasonal landscaping needs in the Chicagoland region A creative approach to improving and designing outdoor spaces Work Environment Primarily outdoors in all weather conditions Occasional weekend or evening hours may be required during peak season or for special events Fast-paced environment during summer months when club usage is at its highest Benefits Competitive hourly wage or salary based on experience and hours worked Flexible schedule to suit your availabilityPTO 401K
