Lead Gardener JuliaGarden Design | Cape Cod, MA At JuliaGarden Design, we create and care for exceptional gardens that are beautiful, ecologically responsible, and deeply connected to place. We are seeking an experienced Lead Gardener to oversee fine garden maintenance while leading and developing a small team of gardeners. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who combines strong horticultural knowledge with organization, accountability, and a passion for creating healthy, thriving gardens. What You'll Do Lead and work alongside a gardening team in the maintenance of residential gardens Ensure gardens are maintained to JuliaGarden Design quality standards Prioritize daily tasks and organize efficient job-site workflow Train, mentor, and support gardeners in horticultural/ecological best practices Communicate clearly with the Garden Director regarding garden needs, client requests, and team performance Perform and oversee: Planting and assisting in planning a variety of custom annual gardens, vegetable gardens and containers Planting and transplanting Garden bed maintenance and edging Weeding and weed ID Seasonal cleanups Monitoring plant health and identifying issues Watering and irrigation monitoring Maintain accurate garden notes, time records, and client information Uphold all company safety standards and procedures Contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture What We're Looking For 3+ years of professional gardening or horticultural experience Strong plant identification and plant care knowledge Experience leading crews or mentoring team members Excellent organizational and communication skills Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple gardens Attention to detail and pride in producing quality work Willingness to learn and implement both traditional horticultural practices and ecological gardening techniques Comfortable using technology for scheduling, time tracking, and record keeping Valid driver's license and driving experience Physical Requirements Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds Ability to perform physically demanding work including digging, planting, pruning, lifting, and walking uneven terrain What It Means to Be a Lead Gardener at JuliaGarden Design We are looking for someone who: Takes ownership and initiative Leads by example Holds themselves and their team to high standards Is thoughtful, decisive, and solution-oriented Values teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning Understands that exceptional gardens are the result of consistent care and attention to detail Benefits Competitive pay based on experience Health, dental, and vision benefits Paid time off Retirement plan Professional development and training opportunities Supportive, collaborative work environment Opportunity for long-term growth within the company If you are passionate about gardening, leadership, and creating beautiful landscapes that support both people and ecology, we would love to hear from you.
