Job Description

Historic New England (HNE) seeks a dependable and detail-oriented individual for a seasonal Groundskeeper position on our Property Care team. Responsible for maintaining the grounds at HNE's Lyman Estate in Waltham, MA, this position performs all aspects of lawn, garden, and hardscape care while working within HNE's preservation philosophy and practices. This full-time position is term-limited through November 30, 2026.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Cares for gardens, plants, and landscapes through mowing, planting, weeding, pruning, watering, tree care, leaf removal, trash pickup etc. Maintains all equipment to be operational. Removal of snow as needed. Clears brush, and repairs potholes. Operates lawn mowers, heavy equipment, and standard landscape equipment including chainsaws and trimmers.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED and suitable job-related experience. Ability to operate typical landscape maintenance equipment and machinery Understanding of a broad range of landscape maintenance activities Basic computer skills, including e-mail management. Deep understanding of team approach and an objectiveness and respect for diverse perspectives and skillsets. Valid driver's license and reliable means of transportation. Excellent communication skills (writing, speaking, and listening). Commitment to the highest standards of professionalism, excellence, and Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access (IDEA).
