Job Description

We're seeking a Maintenance & Custodial Specialist to ensure our program facilities and grounds are clean, safe, and fully compliant with Child Care Center licensing rules, Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS), and state/federal regulations in order to support high-quality, well-maintained environments for children, families, and staff.
What You'll Do:
Perform daily custodial duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and restroom sanitation.

Manage refuse removal, restocking of supplies, and general facility upkeep.

Conduct light maintenance, including minor repairs, painting, lawn care, snow/ice removal, and equipment maintenance.

Inspect and maintain building systems (HVAC, lighting, security) and coordinate with contractors when needed.

Support compliance activities, including obtaining quotes, ensuring licensing and Davis-Bacon requirements, and maintaining tool/equipment inventories.

Obtain and maintain Playground Safety Inspector certification; conduct playground safety checks and provide technical guidance.

Assist staff with facility- and transportation-related compliance needs (CAPS).Communicate effectively with staff, vendors, and contractors, and complete agency documentation accurately and on time.

Uphold agency policies, confidentiality guidelines, and professional standards.

Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED required. One year of experience in custodial and/or maintenance work is preferred. Basic computer and technology skills required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Employee must also possess reliable transportation and a valid driver's license. Playground Safety Inspection Certification.
Language Skills:
Must be competent in reading, verbal and written communication skills.
Mathematical Skills:
Must be competent in basic math skills.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and possess independent judgment to complete routine tasks.
