Job Description

Classification Information Position/Classification Title Classification Type Position required to work during periods of adverse weather or other emergencies: Minimum Experience/Education Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education Knowledge of tools, materials and methods used in grounds maintenance work. Mechanical aptitude to make adjustments and minor repairs to grounds equipment. Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions; to establish and maintain effective working relationship with others. Ability to perform work involving physical strain for an extended period of time. Safety awareness and good communication skills. High School Diploma or GED. Required License or Certification Employee is required to have Safety Shoes. Position Overview Primary Purpose of Position Assist with upkeep of the grounds to provide beautification to the entire campus. Perform grounds maintenance (cutting grass, edging and trimming lawns, planting and pruning shrubs and trees, weeding shrub beds, snow and ice removal, etc.); cleans campus of debris, dig ditches, installs fences and sign posts; and performs manual tasks (moving and hauling furniture and other materials including chemicals and gases manually or otherwise, etc.) according to instructions. Set up and breaks down furniture, stages, materials and equipment for special events and activities. Operate most small engine grounds maintenance tools and machinery. Practice safe operating procedures with equipment, around students, vehicles and facilities; attends safety meetings, wears personal protective clothing. Temporary pools are open quarterly. for consideration for future pools, applicants will need to reapply each quarter. Primary Function of Organizational Unit The Grounds Department plants and maintains our beautiful grounds, impressing students and parents with its beauty. This department is also responsible for trash removal, scheduling and hauling of items on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and setup for special events. Work Hours Work week based on need and weather conditions. May include early morning, evenings, and weekends.
