Grounds Maintenance Assistant

Grounds Maintenance Assistant Overview:

SMP Health is seeking a dependable and motivated Grounds Maintenance Assistant to help maintain a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This role supports both facility maintenance and outdoor grounds care, along with ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain facility grounds including lawns, landscaping, walkways, and snow removal Perform routine maintenance and repairs (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, etc.) Complete daily work orders and preventative maintenance tasks Operate and maintain equipment such as mowers, snow blowers, tools, and facility vehicles Conduct safety inspections and ensure equipment is in proper working condition Assist with moving furniture and heavy items as needed Respond to emergency maintenance needs, including occasional after-hours call-ins Maintain accurate records, inspections, and incident reports Participate in safety drills, emergency preparedness, and regulatory inspections

Qualifications:

Experience with maintenance, mechanical work, or landscaping equipment preferred Long-term care or skilled nursing facility experience Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Physical & Work Requirements:

Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to respond to emergencies and work occasional weekends/holidays

Pay:

$18.60 - $23.25 per hour
