About Us City Schools Sports Association (CSSA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing students in New York City with access to free after-school athletics. We are seeking a Sports Field Maintenance Groundskeeper to oversee the preparation, maintenance, and overall condition of baseball and softball fields (turf and soil-based) during game days. Position Overview This role is responsible for ensuring all playing surfaces are safe, well-maintained, and game-ready. Key duties include supervising field setup, maintaining consistent turf and infield conditions, and performing routine upkeep. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, and comfortable working outdoors in a hands-on environment. Primary Responsibilities Prepare and maintain athletic fields to ensure safe, playable conditions Oversee in-game and between-game field maintenance Operate equipment such as infield rakes, drag mats, brooms, and shovels Maintain turf and soil surfaces using proper field care techniques Ensure all tools and equipment are properly used, stored, and maintained Qualifications Must have a valid government-issued driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle Landscaping experience preferred Must have your own equipment Strong attention to detail and ability to perform physical, hands-on tasks Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional weekends
