Assistant Gardener

Position Summary:

The assistant gardener is responsible for helping with the installation & maintenance of gardens, assorted flower beds, seasonal horticulture displays and assists with general grounds upkeep. They may collaborate with the Manager in garden design & exhibit ideas. Collaborating with other seasonal gardening staff and volunteer team members. Tasks may include; fertilizing, weeding, pruning, planting, insect management and watering. The Gardener will represent Beech Creek Gardens with experience, expertise, and professionalism to staff, volunteers, and garden visitors. Position Responsibilities /

Duties:

⧫ Works with the Managers to support garden & exhibit design vision. ⧫ Planting, mulching, garden bed prep, watering, fertilizing, pruning. ⧫ Collaborate with other staff &volunteers to install seasonal exhibits. ⧫ Assist with general grounds maintenance, cleaning & organizing. ⧫ Other miscellaneous grounds duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:

⧫ Be able to work outside in an assortment of weather conditions. ⧫ Creative problem-solving. ⧫ The ability to communicate and collaborate with a variety of people, staff, volunteers & visitors. ⧫ General plant knowledge and experience ⧫ Be physically fit, able to occasionally lift to 25 lbs. ⧫ Maintain organized equipment, supplies and cleanliness of work areas. ⧫ Willingness to learn, train and grow based on project requirements. ⧫ Positive, hardworking, and good attention to detail. ⧫ Ability to work in a team environment. ⧫ Ability to work flexible hours. ⧫ Artistic & creative is a plus. Pay:

$13.00 - $15.00 per hour
