Job Description
About Us The Cincinnati Catholic Cemetery Society is a faith-based, not-for-profit organization committed to honoring Catholic traditions and providing dignified, compassionate care to families and their loved ones. We operate multiple cemeteries across Greater Cincinnati, including historic and active burial sites. Job Summary We are seeking a dependable and respectful Grounds Team Member to help maintain our cemetery properties. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys outdoor work, takes pride in maintaining peaceful and beautiful grounds, and respects the sacred nature of Catholic burial spaces. Compensation is based upon skill level. Responsibilities Mow, trim, edge, mulch, and maintain cemetery grounds year-round Prepare and backfill burial sites for interment and disinterment services Operate and maintain cemetery equipment such as mowers, string trimmers, and tractors Maintain chapel, mausoleum, roadways, and memorial areas Assist with general landscaping, snow removal, and seasonal cleanup Support set-up and tear-down for committals and special services Follow safety protocols and site-specific procedures Required Qualifications Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions (rain, heat, snow, cold) Ability to lift 95 lbs. and perform strenuous physical labor daily High school diploma or equivalent Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Valid Automobile Insurance Coverage Respectful and compassionate presence around grieving families Ability to follow instructions and work well independently or as part of a team Preferred Qualifications Previous landscaping, groundskeeping, or cemetery experience Basic knowledge of small engine or equipment maintenance Experience with backhoes, loaders, or utility vehicles Familiarity with Catholic burial customs or Christian cemetery services Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus, but not required Compensation and Benefits Hourly pay: Competitive and based on experience Paid holidays and earned PTO Benefits for full-time position Retirement plan participation Steady full-time schedule (Monday-Friday; occasional Saturdays or overtime in peak seasons) Equipment provided Opportunities for growth within a supportive team environment Work Location You may be assigned to any of our cemeteries in Cincinnati, including: St. Joseph Cemetery (Price Hill) St. Mary Cemetery (St. Bernard) St. John Cemetery (St. Bernard)
