Position Summary The Sinclair Groundskeeper II is responsible for maintaining the campus grounds and landscaping. This position will evaluate exterior conditions, which include all horticultural material, streets, sidewalks, signs, irrigation, banners, pavers, general appearance, safety conditions and planning or redesigning elements that would enhance the appearance of the campus. The Groundskeeper II provides general preventative and scheduled maintenance of all equipment relating to the Grounds Department. This position performs snow removal and deicing on campus during inclement weather conditions. The Groundskeeper II works with and supervises part-time and student employees.

Principal Accountabilities Provide turf care to include mowing, edging, trimming, fertilizer applications, herbicide applications and insecticide applications
Maintain all pedestrian sidewalks and concrete pavers in a safe clean manner to include snow removal and deicing, and sweeping of sidewalks as well as emergency repairs as necessary
Maintain and repair irrigation systems to include diagnosing and troubleshooting systems and operation of computerized control system
Operate and maintain all equipment in the Grounds Department to include tractors, mowers, front end loaders, backhoe, truck, sprayer, forklift, utility vehicles and rental equipment
Inspect campus grounds for trash to include emptying trash receptacles, picking up trash and general cleanup
Provide maintenance of all shrub beds, groundcover beds, flowerbeds and trees on campus to include fertilizing, weed control, pest control, mulching and pruning
Supervision of student and part time employees
Keep accurate records of all chemical applications, equipment maintenance and inventories of supplies
Other duties as assigned to include but not limited to; holiday lighting display installation and removal, wildlife control, recycling and building trash hauling
Requirements Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent required
Minimum 2-3 years of work experience in landscape maintenance, garden center sales or related experience required
Must possess (or be able to obtain) a valid Ohio Department of Agriculture Public Operator License for pesticide application in turf and ornamentals
Bi-annual recertification is required to maintain licensure
Proficiency in irrigation system troubleshooting and diagnostics required, gained through 2-3 years of hands-on experience or completion of an Irrigation Service School program preferred
Strong daily communication skills required to effectively interact with employees, students, contractors, and customers required
Knowledge of plant materials, insects and disease identification required
Valid State of Ohio driver's license and insurability by College's insurance provider required
