ANNUAL SALARY:
$38,003.88-$47,504.85 The Parks & Recreation Department operates on a seven-day (7) day operation during peak season which may require working on weekends, evening and holidays.
YOU MUST POSSESS A VALID OHIO DRIVER'S LICENSE
. Will need to provide proof of completion of a High School education.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Under the specific guidelines of the supervisor, operates safely and efficiently all types of equipment and performs routine maintenance on City Parks and Property. Performs related duties as required.
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Experience in heavy manual labor and in the operation of automotive/agricultural equipment; Completion of one-year semi-skilled maintenance and repair experience. Knowledge of safety practices and procedures, basic building and grounds maintenance methods
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of (1) safety practices and procedures; (2) vehicle maintenance and repair. Skill in (3) operation of motor and power equipment under all types of weather conditions. Ability to (4) follow detailed but basic instructions; (5) perform minor repairs and adjustments to equipment; (6) performs heavy manual labor for extended periods of time under often adverse weather conditions; (7) recognize safety warnings.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
  • Performs a variety of heavy manual work and operates a variety of non-commercial motor vehicles and equipment related to the functions of the department; Performs snow plowing and snow removal.
  • Completes basic equipment operation training. Handles, cleans and stores all tools safely and properly.
  • Performs manual labor, duties related to construction and development of park projects as assigned.
  • Performs all aspects of park maintenance and grounds keeping. Operation includes but not limited to: zero turn and push mowers, line trimmers, blowers, chain saws, stand-on skid loader with attachments ie: Bucket, auger, etc. and miscellaneous hand and power tools.
  • Cleans Park facilities and vehicles; perform custodial work including cleaning restrooms, park shelters, and litter pick up.
