Job Description

Job Summary:
Maintains the overall appearance and safety of the Zoo's grounds to support day-to-day operations including field conservation efforts and operational conservation practices. These components include grounds maintenance, flowerbed maintenance, and pathway clearing. Essential Job Functions An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential duties: Work in assigned areas as part of a team and supports the assistant manager's role. Mow, weed eat, pull weeds, apply mulch, prune trees, and load plant debris. Clean and clear roads and pathways (e.g. snow removal, power washing, trash pick-up, backpack blowing). Operate tools and equipment (e.g. skid-steer, tractor, mower, street sweeper, blowers, chainsaw, tiller, chipper, etc.). Provide quality customer service to both internal and external customers. Actively promote and contribute to the Oklahoma City Zoo's sustainability initiatives and green practices. Communicate effectively with the Assistant Grounds Manager on the status of projects. Foster constructive attitudes and team orientation among staff; positively communicate and collaborate with Zoo personnel and professional colleagues. Represents the zoo in a professional manner. Complete assigned tasks and meet deadlines. May assist with additions to exhibits when needed. Assist the Buildings crew with sweeping, mopping, waxing, dusting, and taking out trash in the buildings as needed. May oversee part time staff and volunteers. Driving around the Oklahoma City area throughout the year. Non-Essential Job Functions Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience Required :
One (1) year working in formal landscape/grounds maintenance work or equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Minimum Education Requirements:
High School diploma or G.E.
D Certification:
Valid Oklahoma Class A driver's license.
