Job Description

Underground Utility Laborer (Crew and Lead) •Employer sponsored health benefits, for employee, after 90 days. The Crew Member position consists of general construction labor/ utility work; this may include various forms of labor such as trenching, shoveling and equipment operating. The position may also require the candidate to assist in locating utilities for an operator and assisting with any other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the crew foreman/supervisor. The Lead will be responsible for coordinating tasks, ensuring safety standards, and delivering quality work under the supervision of a foreman or supervisor. This role offers overtime opportunities for candidates who are driven and adaptable. This position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in underground construction or utility work and the ability to lead by example.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership:
Direct and assist crew members in performing trenching, shoveling, and other construction tasks. Provide on-site guidance for the installation and maintenance of underground telecommunications cabling (fiber and coax).
Operational Oversight:
Ensure safe and effective operation around heavy equipment and machinery. Assist in locating utilities and maintaining clear communication with the team during all operations. Coordinate the transportation and setup of trailers and heavy machinery as required.
Safety and Quality Assurance:
Maintain situational awareness to prevent hazards and ensure all team movements are coordinated and safe. Uphold quality standards in all tasks while meeting project deadlines.
Documentation and Reporting:
Accurately record timecards, job costs, and other necessary documentation. Communicate progress and challenges to the foreman/supervisor.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years in underground construction or utility work.
Driver's License:
Valid driver's license required.
Leadership Skills:
Proven ability to guide and communicate effectively with a crew.
Technical Knowledge:
Proficient with small tools and hand tools, with a working knowledge of underground cabling systems.
Physical Endurance:
Ability to perform repetitive tasks in hot weather conditions, including lifting, bending, and moving equipment (up to 70 lbs).
Reliability:
Dependable transportation and commitment to punctuality.
Teamwork:
Positive attitude and the ability to maintain good relationships with both the team and the public.
Preferred Qualities:
