Seasonal Grounds Person

Summer GroundskeeperWesttown School is seeking general Groundskeepers for temporary seasonal work, beginningimmediately through mid-to-late August. Groundskeepers are responsible for maintaining thecampus grounds and recreational areas. The regular hours are 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, Mondaythrough Friday.

Westtown School is a Quaker independent pre-K to 12, college-preparatory day and boardingschool located in suburban West Chester, PA, approximately 30 miles from Philadelphia. Situated on a beautiful 600-acre campus, Westtown offers state-of-the-art facilities where ourcommitted faculty and staff inspire and prepare our students to be stewards and leaders of abetter world. Essential Responsibilities Mow grass, prune and trim shrubs and trees, and apply mulch; Operate a tractor, loader, and other facility vehicles; Weed flower beds and attend to landscaped areas; Plant trees/shrubs and annuals, as directed; Assist in maintaining athletic fields and recreational play areas, including layout, lining,mowing, seeding, fertilizing, etc.; Assist with the removal and disposal of trash and debris; Maintain campus driveways and parking lots; Provide support and manpower to other campus departments as necessary; Maintain knowledge of school property and staff as necessary to perform assignedduties; Report unsafe conditions or suspicious activity as necessary; Remain committed to safe work practices and energy conservation at all times; Participate in departmental meetings/training as necessary; Maintain professional and appropriate relations with all students and parents at all times; Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Prior experience in the care and maintenance of similar facilities is preferred Ability to work within the overall organization of the Facilities department and work withskilled and unskilled personnel Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions Must have a valid

Drivers LicensePhysical Requirements:

Lift, carry or otherwise move up to 50 lbs. regularly. Lift, carry or otherwise move up to100lbs. occasionally with assistance. Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl forextended periods of time. Must be able to climb ladders. Must be able to push and/or pull heavy loads.
