Job Description
This poistion is remote and can be based anywhere in MissouriPosition OverviewThe Underground Field Services Technician supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of underground bulk delivery and pumping equipment used in mining environments. This field-based role is responsible for commissioning new and rebuilt equipment, troubleshooting performance issues, supporting operators and maintenance teams, and delivering hands-on training related to underground manufacturing processes. The position operates remotely within the United States, with a strong preference for candidates located in Tennessee or Minnesota, and requires frequent travel to customer sites.
Key ResponsibilitiesCommission new, rebuilt, and in-service underground pumping and delivery equipment to ensure proper operation and compliance with design specifications.
Verify that equipment performs as intended following installation, rebuilds, or modifications.
Ensure bulk product manufacturing processes are executed according to established specifications and safety requirements.
Provide technical support to equipment operators and maintenance personnel on correct operation, troubleshooting, and upkeep of underground units.
Develop, maintain, and update operating manuals and training materials related to equipment operation and maintenance.
Deliver hands-on and classroom-style training to site personnel on safe operation, routine maintenance, and best practices.
Perform advanced troubleshooting to diagnose equipment, hydraulic, mechanical, and control system performance issues.
Identify contractor support needs and assist with coordination and scheduling of contractor activities.
Provide guidance for installation and configuration of control systems associated with underground equipment.
Support customers with operational optimization and preventative maintenance practices.
Manage special projects such as equipment rebuilds or system upgrades, including scope definition and coordination support.
Perform additional duties as assigned in support of field operations and customer needs.
QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required.
Associate degree in electronics, mechanics, engineering, or related technical field preferred; relevant technical certifications are a plus.
Prior training related to underground mining safety preferred.
Experience with underground mining methods or bulk delivery equipment preferred.
Previous field service, equipment support, or technical maintenance experience strongly preferred.
Foundational understanding of hydraulic systems, AC/DC control systems, and mechanical components such as pumps, augers, and gearboxes.
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for resolving complex equipment issues.
Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical documentation and communicate findings clearly to customers and internal teams.
Experience establishing maintenance practices and supporting continuous improvement in equipment reliability.
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Strong commitment to safety and willingness to exercise stop-work authority when required.
Ability to work in personal protective equipment and perform physical tasks such as climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and standing or walking for extended periods.
