POSITION
Grounds Maintenance Technician
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required, Valid South Carolina driver's license, Demonstrated experience in groundskeeping, landscape maintenance, or related facilities maintenance roles, with evidence of increasing responsibility, Knowledge of safe operation and routine maintenance of landscaping equipment, Ability to follow safety protocols and interpret basic site plans and work orders.

GENERAL SUMMARY
The Grounds Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining all district properties in a clean, safe, and visually appealing condition to support a healthy environment conducive to teaching and learning.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Operate and maintain landscaping equipment such as zero-turn mowers, string trimmers, edgers, and blowers Perform seasonal landscaping tasks including seeding, aerating, fertilizing, pruning, and mulching Remove weeds and apply herbicides and pesticides in accordance with safety guidelines Prune trees and shrubs to maintain shape, safety, and health of plantings Install and maintain playground surfacing materials and flower beds Conduct routine inspections and perform preventative maintenance on grounds equipment Safely lift, carry, and move equipment and materials weighing up to 75 pounds Interpret and follow verbal and written instructions, work orders, and safety protocols Respond to after-hours emergencies such as storm cleanup or weather-related hazards Collaborate respectfully and effectively with team members and supervisors Perform additional related duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance
WORKING CONDITIONS
In addition to the physical and mental capabilities implied by the responsibilities detailed above, the work is conducted mainly outdoors with occasional exposure to discomforting environmental conditions such as heat, cold, humidity, noise, dust, and wetness. Moderately heavy physical exertion is frequently required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 75 pounds. In the district, travel is required.
