Description Position Title:
Groundskeeper & Venue Support

Lead Gardener Position Summary:
The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the appearance, safety, and overall upkeep of Beaumont Botanical Gardens grounds and facilities. This position supports daily garden maintenance, seasonal projects, and general property care to ensure a clean, attractive, and welcoming environment for visitors and event guests. This position includes required participation in a rotating event staffing schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine grounds maintenance including mowing, trimming, edging, raking, weeding, and leaf removal Assist with planting, mulching, pruning, fertilizing, and seasonal garden preparation Maintain garden beds, walkways, and outdoor gathering areas Empty trash and recycling bins throughout the gardens and public areas Perform janitorial duties, including restroom upkeep and cleaning of indoor spaces Operate and maintain landscaping tools and equipment safely Assist with irrigation and watering as needed Identify and report maintenance, safety, or repair issues to the Lead Gardener Participate in a rotating schedule with the grounds team to staff on-site events (venue rentals such as weddings and special events) Assist with event setup and breakdown, including tables, chairs, and general venue preparation Serve as on-site support during events to ensure the venue remains clean, safe, and running smoothly Address immediate needs or issues that arise during events in a professional and timely manner Help maintain high presentation standards of the venue before, during, and after events Assist with special projects as assigned
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred Prior groundskeeping, landscaping, or maintenance experience preferred but not required Ability to perform physical labor outdoors in varying weather conditions Must be able to perform physical tasks including frequent bending, kneeling, and prolonged walking Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team Willingness to follow direction and learn new skills Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for scheduled events Reliable transportation required
Preferred Skills:
Experience with irrigation systems Basic knowledge of plants, turf care, or horticulture Experience operating lawn mowers and other landscaping equipment Experience working in parks, public gardens, or similar facilities Ability to provide a welcoming, customer-focused experience for garden visitors, volunteers, and event guests while representing the Gardens in a professional manner
Schedule:
Full-time, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Occasional weekends or special events as needed Potential for overtime during peak seasons or special events
Compensation/Benefits:
$16.00 per hour 9 paid holidays 5 paid sick days 2 personal days Eligible for one week of paid vacation after one year of employment Please note: Health insurance benefits are not provided for this position.
