Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, performs a variety of semi-skilled tasks related to the maintenance of grounds, equipment, and facilities.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assists in maintaining the appearance, site security, and general oversight of the landfill and compost sites, including mowing, weed cutting, minor landscaping, pressure washing, fence, gate, and sign repairs, painting, minor carpentry work, and collecting windblown trash and large items as needed. Performs general maintenance work and inspections, including carpentry, electrical work, painting, plastering, minor plumbing, HVAC, facility systems, septic systems, equipment, and buildings, as needed. Coordinates with outside vendors as needed for maintenance assistance. Clears debris using power blowers or pressure washers to clean facility areas. 4. Assists in cleaning water recycling systems; inspects sprinkler functionality and makes repairs and/or reports malfunctions to appropriate personnel. 5. Communicates effectively with employees in the work group and department. 6. Follows safety policies and procedures. 7. Attends safety meetings and training events. 8. Performs related duties as assigned.
OTHER ASPECTS OF THE JOB
: Ability to sit, stand, and drive a vehicle to and from various worksites. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds. Work may involve exposure to seasonal temperatures, travel across rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces at the landfill is required. Must be available to work irregular hours, shifts, weekends, and some holidays. High school diploma or GED equivalent. Valid Texas driver's license. Minimum of two years of grounds maintenance or related facilities maintenance experience.
