Job Schedule:
Occasional Join our team at Camp Buckner as a Landscaper I and play a crucial role in maintaining the beauty and functionality of our outdoor spaces. Your dedication ensures that our plants, flowers, lawn, and garden thrive, creating an inviting environment for our guests and program participants. Become part of our team and make a positive impact while enjoying the serene surroundings of our retreat center. What You'll Do Work under supervision to create and maintain Camp Buckner grounds, flowerbeds, trees, and landscaping. Mow, edge, rake, and trim shrubbery as directed. Ensure the grounds, sidewalks, walkways, trails, and gutters are clean and clear of debris as directed. Trim trees during the appropriate time of the year including splitting wood, clearing, burn or haul brush and wood as directed. Perform routine pool maintenance, as directed. Assist with leak detection and repair of sprinkler systems and replacement of broken sprinkler heads. Apply fertilizers, pesticides and weed killers as directed. Receive and follow maintenance schedule/instructions from supervisor in accordance with established maintenance policies and procedures; perform unscheduled maintenance tasks as directed. If age eligible ability to safely maintain and operate heavy equipment such as the tractor, shredder, box blade and auger. Training is provided. Assist in moving equipment and furniture as needed. Ensure that work areas are clean and organized. Make sure that equipment, tools, and supplies are properly stored before leaving the work area. Keep work areas free of hazardous conditions (i.e. grease, oil spills, excess supplies, equipment, etc.) and ensure that all safety rules/regulations are followed at all times. Report all incidents/accidents to the supervisor or other appropriate personnel immediately. Wear protective clothing/devices as directed. What You'll Bring to the Team This is an entry level position working under close supervision and training in any area required will be provided. Requires proficient ability to speak, read and write English. Proficiency in Spanish would be useful and considered in compensation. Requires ability to be trained to operate ladders and hand tools safely and effectively. Requires ability to be trained to operate and maintain gas powered lawn care equipment such as lawn mowers, weed-eaters, , edging equipment and blowers. Requires ability to speak clearly and make self clearly understood in face to face interactions; ability to articulate with accuracy to speak on the phone. Requires good organization and communication skills, both oral and in writing. Requires personality attuned to meeting the needs of guests and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members and the public. Requires ability to relate positively, influentially, and sensitively to a broad spectrum of persons in a variety of multi-tiered relationships and settings to include but not limited to institutional staff/faculty, various organizations, churches of all sizes, and cultural identities. Requires the ability to effectively work under pressure and remain flexible as priorities change. Requires ability to work under minimal supervision, exercise sound judgment and confidentiality. Requires ability to concentrate on fine detail with some interruption; ability to focus attention on tasks for 45-60 minutes at a time on a continuous basis. Requires proficient ability to exhibit detail-oriented skills necessary to understand and manage a wide-range of information. Proficient working knowledge and ability to accurately and timely operate and perform computer related tasks with specific equipment and software applications preferred. Requires ability to understand and relate to the theories behind several related concepts; ability to remember verbal and written tasks/assignments from a few hours to long periods of time (months).
