Job Description
SUMMARY:
The Parks Crew Leader will work within the Parks division of the city and report to the Parks and Municipal Maintenance Superintendent. The Parks Crew Leader participates in the maintenance and repair of the City's Parks. Responsible for maintaining city parks, grounds, including mowing, weed-eating, tree-trimming, irrigation, and landscaping. They will lead and assign department staff on tasks, as necessary. This position performs a variety of other duties as assigned by the Parks Superintendent and/or Public Works Director.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Responsible for maintaining City parks, grounds, and right-of-way including mowing, weed-eating, tree-trimming, irrigation, and landscaping. Performs minor repairs of park buildings. Ensures City facilities are aesthetically pleasing to the public including maintenance and cleaning of park restrooms. Maintains and prepares sports fields. Maintains the safety and cleanliness of all park playgrounds. Maintains all park water features and corresponding structures such as docks and aeration pumps. Performs preventative maintenance on all vehicles and equipment, as well as minor repairs on all equipment. Completes work orders and other duties assigned by the Public Works Superintendent. Report all accidents, injuries, theft, loss, and broken/damaged equipment/property to the Director of Public Works. Assist other crews and departments when needed including tasks outside normal responsibility. Work and perform support for special events outside of normal work hours. Responds to emergency operations and on-call situations
Qualifications:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of safety principles and practices. Knowledge of irrigation systems. Knowledge of application of fertilizer, insecticide, algaecide, weed control, and ballfield materials such as clay and field conditioner. Skilled in proper maintenance and operations of essential equipment necessary to perform the job such as striping and dragging equipment, mowers, top dresser, and infield groomer. Ability to oversee job duties and time management. Ability to read, write, interpret, and follow written or oral instruction, as well as administer written and oral instructions. Ability to complete daily work assignments. Ability to lift, carry, and push less or equal to 100 pounds. Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely and legally.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must have High School diploma or GED. Ability to read, write, interpret, and follow written or oral instructions as well as provide written and oral instructions. Any combination of education and experience will demonstrate the ability to perform the essential job functions. Valid driver s license
