Job Description
The Luling Golf Association is seeking a motivated person to join our Golf Course Maintenance Staff. This is an excellent opportunity for a person with general labor experience ready to take the next step into golf course maintenance while enjoying life in a small Texas town. The Luling Municipal Golf Course is a nine-hole facility owned by the City of Luling, Texas and managed by the Luling Golf Association. Luling Golf Association is a 501(c)(4) organization with its primary purpose being the operation and management of the Luling Municipal Golf Course. Employees are employed through the Luling Golf Association-not the City of Luling. Position Overview As a member of the maintenance staff, you will support daily golf course maintenance operations with direction from more experienced team members, to ensure the course remains in top playing condition year around. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors in a hands-on environment and is passionate about keeping the golf course in excellent playing condition. Course Overview Luling Golf Course is a nine-hole facility located along the banks of the San Marcos River. The fairways are mixed Bermuda and the greens are Paspalum. There are five bunkers. The course has a Hunter irrigation system that is supplied by an on-site water well dedicated exclusively to use on the golf course. Key Responsibilities Assist with daily course maintenance operations including mowing, irrigation, and cultural practices Help monitor turf health and assist with pest, disease, and fertility programs Operate and maintain equipment safely and efficiently Take direction from the LGA Board of Directors and other Maintenance Staff members on planning, scheduling, and project execution Mow greens, tees, fairways, collars, approaches, and roughs using walk-behind, triplex, and rotary mowers to established heights and patterns after proper training Operate a Tractor with tow behind implements including an Aerway Aerator and TDR-X Mower after proper training Change cups and pins on greens on a schedule; set tee markers and prepare tees on a schedule Rake and maintain sand bunkers; edge, weed, and redistribute sand evenly Hand-water greens, tees, and other areas as needed; repair ball marks, divots, and damaged turf Operate string trimmers, edgers, backpack blowers, and hand tools to maintain clean lines around trees, fences, cart paths, signage, and obstacles Pick up course litter, empty trash receptacles, clean ball washers, and refill water stations Assist with irrigation repairs (replace heads, adjust nozzles, flag lines) and hand watering during dry periods Perform basic landscape maintenance: edging, blowing clippings, minor pruning, weeding, and debris removal Assist in special projects such as aeration, topdressing, overseeding, sod installation, and course renovations Operate utility vehicles, golf carts, and other equipment safely on the course Perform daily equipment cleaning, basic maintenance (check fluids, grease fittings, sharpen blades when trained), and report needed repairs Work cooperatively and communicate effectively with the maintenance team and LGA Board members, while frequently performing tasks independently Maintain a professional demeanor, attitude, and professional appearance Follow all safety policies and procedures; wear appropriate PPE when required Other duties as assigned Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required Golf specific turf experience is a plus but not required. Training will be provided as necessary Ability to work as part of a team Strong work ethic and attention to detail Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed Ability to perform strenuous physical work outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, early mornings) Ability to lift, carry, push/pull up to 50-75 lbs regularly Valid Texas driver's license with clean driving record Reliable transportation and punctuality
