Job Description

Purpose:
Responsible for performing Ground duties in the Electric Department as Assigned.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Essential duties and functions may include the following. Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed. Other related duties may be assigned. Complete essential apprentice Skills and pole climbing classes. Must meet the requirements listed in the apprenticeship program. (Note) These are the minimum requirements. The employees' overall evaluation will complete the rating. This will be used to calculate the employees' hourly increase. Become Familiar with the City of Sanger feeder routes and boundaries. Learn both the manufacturer's names and common lineman terminology for material used daily. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications :
High School diploma or GED equivalent Any combination of experience that would provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
Conditions of Employment:
Must be able to obtain a Class A Driver s License (CDL). Must pass a drug test, driver s license check, criminal history background check, and a social security number verification check. Must be able to respond when on call within 30 minutes. Ability to read and understand, and follow department safety rules. Ability to work courteously with other employees and customers. Ability to work within confined spaces.
Preferences:
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
The work environment characteristics described herein represent those that an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds and be able to push and pull up to fifty (50) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must possess adequate visual acuity and hearing ability sufficient to read, write, hear, and speak clearly in person and by telephone.
