Required Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or possession of a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) certificate. One (1) year of experience in small engine repair at the apprentice II or equivalent level. Possession of an appropriate, valid motor vehicle operator's license with a good driving record. May be required to work an evening and/or night shift on a regular or rotating basis, accept call-back overtime or regular overtime, and/or agree to assume an emergency call-out list status. Knowledge of the methods and skill in the use of equipment, materials, and tools appropriate for motor repair. Knowledge of common hazards and necessary safety precautions. Knowledge of local, state, and national codes. Knowledge of basic computer skills. Skill in the diagnosis of problems and making appropriate mechanical repairs. Ability to read and interpret instructions, diagrams, sketches, blueprints, and manufacturers' manuals. Ability to estimate time and material needs, determine when the repair is not economically practical, and perform routine tasks and arithmetic computations. Preferred Completion of an acceptable apprentice-level mechanic-training program.

Maintenance/Trades Major Duties/Essential Functions:

Performs mechanical repair to small engines. Detects, diagnoses, and corrects mechanical defects. Removes and tears down components. Repairs, reassembles, and reinstalls engines, transmissions, and electrical, heating, and air-conditioning systems. Repairs power trains and hydraulic systems. Performs alignments. Makes emergency road repairs. Tests equipment. Keeps records and makes reports of work accomplished and materials used. Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

This job requires strength, agility, dexterity, and visual acuity to perform all tasks. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must adhere to all site safety regulations and may be required to regularly stand, sit, walk, bend, climb ladders, and/or kneel. There may be exposure to extreme heat and cold, outdoor environments, heavy equipment, moving machinery, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noises. This job requires lifting up to 25 lbs., periodically lifting/moving up to 50 lbs., and occasional lifting/moving up to 100 lbs. alone or with assistance.
