Job Description

Sauk County is home to a vast array of lakes, rivers, and creeks with 22,000 acres of natural parks and open spaces that allow for 100 miles of biking, hiking, and walking. In addition to White Mound County Park, there are several other Sauk County Parks and boat landings. Scattered across the county, these parks allow access to different lakes, woods, memorials and even an effigy mound. The purpose of the Parks Seasonal Worker is to perform clerical, customer service and maintenance tasks for the Parks service area of the Sauk County Land Resources and Environment Department. There are several vacancies. This position is extremely flexible and would start in May and typically ends in September. If there are enough hours and work remaining, a Seasonal Worker could work until November if desired. No benefits are offered with this position. Sauk County is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Collect and record fees. Receive and route phone calls. Maintain trails. Perform maintenance and repair tasks such as mowing grass, tree trimming, landscaping, snow plowing, weed picking, and trail grooming and marking. Clean park bathrooms and other park structures. Harvest aquatic weeds. Assist in preparing firewood. Assist with parking enforcement by verifying that each vehicle has the proper pass. Operate a vehicle on behalf of Sauk County And other duties as assigned. Required Working Hours Some weekend, evening and holiday shifts are required. Standard working hours vary based on the needs of the park, but are typically: Sunday through
Thursday:
7:45 AM to 4:00
PM Friday:
9:45 AM to 6:00
PM Saturday:
8:45 AM to 5:00 PM Saturday working hours may occasionally be 7:45 AM to 4:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 11:15 PM if there is a building rental. Please note these hours are subject to change and additional hours may be needed or required. Compensation for additional hours beyond normal working hours are subject to applicable state and federal regulations. The workdays and hours can be flexible and can range from full-time or part-time. The position can also range from strictly outdoor work, strictly indoor work or a mix of both. The position starts at $14.85 per hour, with premium pay for weekday evenings, weekend days and holidays.

Required:
High School Diploma 18 years of age or older
Licenses/Certifications:
Become Wisconsin ATV/UTV Safety Certified within 2 weeks of start date
Valid Driver License Preferred:
Clerical experience Outdoor yard maintenance experience Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
