Seasonal Gardener 3.0 3.0 out of 5 stars 1455 Palmer Drive, Janesville, WI 53545 $17 an hour - Part-time Rotary Botanical Gardens 2 reviews $17 an hour - Part-time We are seeking a knowledgeable Seasonal Gardener to join our team. The Seasonal Gardener will be responsible for the care and cultivation of the garden and grounds. This position reports to the Horticulture Manager. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter that is able to work independently as well as with others to foster a team atmosphere. They will possess a critical eye for detail and prioritize their workload with the ability to adjust priorities as demands of the job change. This is a hands-on seasonal role, 16-32 hours per week position approximately April-November. Maintaining assigned areas to the highest level of horticultural excellence. All gardening and groundskeeping duties including planting, weeding, pruning, mulching, turf management, maintaining drives and walkways, painting, and litter pickup. Work assignment schedules and supervision of volunteers and interns. Rotational weekend watering duty during the hottest parts of the summer. Snow removal from garden paths. Using small and large power equipment; experience using a skid steer loader is desirable. Support installation and removal of the Holiday Light Show, Plant Sales, and other special events. Other duties as assigned by the Horticulture Manager. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Comfortable working outside in all types of weather conditions including heat, below freezing temperatures, rain, and snow. Capable of walking, standing, bending, and kneeling for extended periods of time. Capable and comfortable using various small and large power equipment as well as typical garden-related hand tools and implements. Experience working to maintain landscapes, operating landscape tools/machines, knowledge of irrigation systems and plant material is desirable but experience in a public garden, a college degree in Horticulture, and an interest in sustainable landscapes is preferred. Compensation is based on experience/qualifications.
