Job Description

JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY
This position is primarily responsible for assisting with annual district groundskeeping duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
: The duties described below are indicative of what the Groundskeeper employee may be asked to perform. Other duties may be assigned.
Primary Tasks:
Maintain district grounds and associated duties. Athletic field set-up Performs general lawn care duties which includes lawn mowing, weed eating, aerating, irrigating, fertilizing, and weed control applications. Operate snow equipment as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Other Primary Duties:
Snow removal Lawn/shrub care Unloading delivery trucks Open/close buildings Security checks
Secondary Responsibilities:
The capability to learn the job easily and comprehend all training procedures The ability to operate all district equipment Drive a personal or District vehicle to deliver or pick-up materials, etc. (A valid driver's license and successful driving record background check would be required in order to drive for school-related business. Employees who do not meet this requirement will not be qualified for this position.) Perform other duties deemed necessary as directed by the Manager of Buildings and Grounds.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EXPERIENCE
High school graduate or beyond. An understanding of proper standards for cleanliness, maintenance and safety of public facilities. Prior experience recommended.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Technical Skills:
The individual must possess the following: Knowledge of proper grounds procedures. Skills necessary to operate such equipment as snowplows, skid loader, lawn mowers etc. The capability to learn the job easily and comprehend all training procedures. Fundamental knowledge of grounds keeping duties and responsibilities.
Ability to use technology:
Internet, email, voicemail to organize and manage work orders and assigned duties.
Organizational Skills:
The individual must possess the following: Ability to organize time: i.e., be able to work on one-time-only tasks as well as ongoing tasks, while at the same time handling interruptions, etc.
Ability to establish priorities:
i.e., recognize tasks that need to be done and do them without supervision and anticipate the needs and requirements of Head Groundskeeper and the Manager of Buildings and Grounds. Ability to be a self-starter who does not need constant direction from head groundskeeper or supervisor. Ability to tolerate and work in pressure situations during which large volumes of work must be accomplished in a short period of time, sometimes without a clear delineation of priorities.
Communication Skills:
The individual must possess the following: Ability to maintain strict confidentiality relating to all confidential business, personnel, and school district matters. Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people/children. Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude and work well with others.

From $19.50 per hour
