Spray Technician The Spray Technician position provides a unique full-time seasonal employment opportunity in the Natural Resources field with a young and energetic company. Back 40 Land Management has experienced rapid growth since starting in 2018 and we're looking for someone who wants to grow with us! Our specialized services and expertise allow landowners to achieve their land management goals; whether its increasing grass production for an equine facility, controlling noxious weeds on native pastureland, removing invasive woody species in riparian habitat, or creating land management plans for communities that contain a shared open space, Back 40 is committed to providing the full scope of work needed and forming long-term relationships with clients. The Technician role will help accomplish a variety of vegetation management related tasks, including but not limited to: trailering spray rigs to various jobsites, herbicide applications using a backpack sprayer/ATV/ UTV sprayer, weed whacking, mowing with a riding mower or a tractor-mounted brush hog, light pruning tasks, and assisting with chipping woody debris into a dump trailer. A background in small engine repair and/or a general mechanical aptitude is helpful, as this position will be expected to perform basic equipment maintenance / repairs. Priority will be given to those with active Colorado commercial applicator licenses. On-the-job training will be provided, but there are a few key requirements that need to be met before a new-hire can fill this role:

• A valid driver's license and experience driving a truck/trailer.
• A background in plant identification.
• Mental toughness
• not afraid to spend long days working alone in the heat or cold doing manual labor.
• Physical fitness
• Ability to hike up to a mile over uneven terrain carrying a 35-pound backpack, lift 25 pounds to head height, lift and carry 50 pounds over short distances, occasionally lift 100 pounds off of the ground, hand/forearm strength to squeeze a spray gun all day, and ability to work on your feet all day using a chainsaw and hand dragging tree limbs.
• Ability to follow written instructions and compare work orders to maps generated for work sites.

Must be able to use a map and basic GPS software on smartphone. Need to submit complete work notes daily. Must demonstrate clear and effective written and verbal communication, as some formal written reports and phone calls to clients will be necessary. Priority will be given to those with experience in plant identification, performing herbicide applications, and operating/maintaining equipment listed under the role of the Land Management Technician. Ideal candidate will have a degree or 3+ years of work experience in a natural resource or agricultural

This position will require on average 40 hours of work per week, with opportunities for overtime. Work hours are subject to change based on weather conditions.
