Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and licensed Spray Technician on behalf of a premier landscaping and property management company. This is a field-based, safety-sensitive, and compliance-critical role responsible for the legal, safe, and effective application of pesticides and plant health products on residential and commercial properties. The ideal candidate will utilize Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles to protect plant health while safeguarding clients, coworkers, pollinators, water resources, and the environment. Key Responsibilities Horticultural Diagnosis & IPM Identify turf/plant insects, diseases, nutrient deficiencies, and environmental stressors. Confirm treatment necessity and select approved products consistent with label laws and state regulations. Recommend cultural practices (watering, pruning, etc.) to clients to help reduce chemical reliance. Chemical Mixing & Application Mix, calibrate, and apply pesticides, insecticides, fungicides, miticides, fertilizers, and soil treatments strictly according to label directions ( "the label is the law" ). Safely operate application equipment, including backpack sprayers, truck-mounted spray systems, broadcast spreaders, and soil injection systems. Safety, Compliance & Recordkeeping Maintain strict safety protocols, including wearing proper PPE, observing re-entry intervals (REI), posting warning signs, managing drift control, and protecting pollinators. Transport, store, and secure chemicals legally using secondary containment. Maintain legally required, same-day spray records (weather, product names/EPA numbers, application rates, locations, and license details) and manage SDS logs. Client Communication & Site Care Explain treatments clearly and professionally to property owners, providing safety notices and post-application care instructions. Maintain chemical storage areas to ensure they remain compliant, locked, ventilated, and organized. Job Requirements Required Qualifications (Non-Negotiable) Active Idaho Professional Applicator License. Required Endorsements:
Core Competency, Ornamental Pest Control, and Structural Pest Control. Deep understanding of pesticide labels, state/federal regulations, and safety standards. Strong attention to detail regarding legal documentation and chemical logs. Ability to work independently with high personal accountability. Preferred Experience Prior professional experience in landscape, turf, or horticultural chemical spraying. Strong familiarity with localized plant species and common Idaho pests/diseases. Experience operating and maintaining truck-mounted spray systems, pumps, and hoses. Physical Requirements & Working Conditions Must be comfortable working outdoors in variable Idaho seasonal weather conditions (heat, wind, cold). Ability to stand, walk across large properties, bend, kneel, and regularly lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
