We combine horticultural craftsmanship with sustainable growing practices to produce premium ornamental materials used in fine design and retail. Position Overview We are seeking a motivated individual with a background or strong interest in horticulture, landscape maintenance, or agriculture to join our maintenance team. This position involves hands-on fieldwork supporting the cultivation magnolia and evergreen foliage. We are offering a position that lets you set a flexible schedule, work with plants, and contribute to a growing tree and plant farm. Description We are seeking a licensed pesticide applicator with experience spraying in ornamental horticulture eliminating pests while not causing injury to crops. Pests includes vines, weeds, and harmful insects. We use an integrated pest management system that incorporates sustainable solutions when possible as we nurture our soils and plants. The individual for this position will need to be able to work independently, effectively communicate with supervisor and keep thorough records required by the State of NC, as directed by the Environmental Protection Agency. The individual will be able to mix, clean, and repair sprayers on their own as well as inventory chemicals used. Additionally, they will need to be able to identify and treat weeds while not damaging the crops and turf we grow. A Private Applicator Pesticide License or Commercial Pesticide License is required for this position and a preferred minimum of 2 years experience using chemicals in a commercial setting. Job Responsibilities Formulate ingredients for pest control treatments & fertilizing nutrients Accurately keep records required by the State of NC Work independently and communicate with supervisor effectively Capable of lifting and carrying up to 40lbs Load chemical sprayers with the appropriate amount of treatment ingredients, and ready devices such as backpack spray equipment Operate special spraying devices and manipulate nozzles, hoses, and tubes during chemical treatments Monitor, record and report insect and weed seasonal activity on the farm Organize inventory of spraying equipment, pesticide chemicals and make minor repairs Clean and inspect all chemical pesticide spraying tools to ensure each device meets all required safety and hazardous materials regulation Manage, record, and report the rotation of spraying Observe, record and report suggestions for improvements of integrated pest management
