Job Description

Position Objective:
The role of the Natural Resources Applicator is to perform invasive species management practices throughout Pennington County.
Essential Functions:
Take direction from Foreman/Technician to complete tasks as assigned with no supervision. Identify invasive species and protected or endangered species. Mix, load, and apply pesticides in full accordance with label. Apply pesticides at proper rates. Maintain proper and accurate daily application records. Assists in building, maintaining, and repairing equipment. Uses GPS/GIS for mapping natural resources Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor Maintain compliance with all County policies and procedures Education and/or
Experience Required:
A High School degree or GED certificate. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid South Dakota Driver's License. Certified Commercial Pesticide Applicator in South Dakota. Certification in All Terrain Vehicle Safety Operation.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and quantitative productivity standards Must be able to move freely, hike steep inclines, use pesticide application equipment, GPS units, pick-ups & 1-ton trucks, ATV/UTV vehicles, various shop equipment, power tools and manual dexterity is needed to type, write, use a calculator, and answer telephone. Upper body strength is a requisite to move a maximum of 50 lbs. unassisted; and move more than 50 lbs. with assistance. Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly on telephone and in-person Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). No allergic reactions to pesticides.
Working Environment:
Work is performed in a combination of indoor and outdoor environments, where the employee is exposed to conditions including; cold and/or hot weather, outdoor hazards, moving mechanical parts, and traffic. Noise level may be loud at times. Overtime hours may be required to meet project deadlines. Travel throughout the county and outside the county for trainings and meetings; some may require overnight travel.
