Job Description
GreenRoots Landscaping, LLC Horticulture Manager Plant, Irrigation & Lighting Specialist The Landscape Horticulturist serves as the plant expert, quality controller, and living systems specialist for GreenRoots. This role is responsible for the long-term health, quality, and success of all plant material, irrigation systems, and landscape lighting installations completed by the company while upholding GreenRoots values, execution standards, and design integrity at every stage of a project. This position requires strong leadership, ownership, organization, and deep horticultural knowledge. The ideal candidate takes pride in maintaining high standards, proactively solving problems, and ensuring every installation reflects the level of quality GreenRoots is known for. Core Responsibilities Horticultural, Irrigation & Lighting Expertise Serve as the lead expert within the company for plantings, irrigation, and landscape lighting Maintain the highest level of plant knowledge across the company including identification of trees, shrubs, and perennials Maintain extensive knowledge of plant material, seasonal behavior, and long-term plant performance Understand irrigation systems, drainage considerations, watering requirements, and lighting functionality Diagnose plant health concerns including pests, disease, fungus, nutrient deficiencies, and water stress Maintain required pesticide certifications Possess strong pruning knowledge and educate employees on proper techniques and timing Continuously improve knowledge and independently research solutions when needed Plant Quality & Installation Oversight Ensure only top-quality plant material is accepted and installed Inspect plant material for size, structure, health, and design consistency Reject material that does not meet GreenRoots standards Ensure all plantings align with design intent and company quality expectations Monitor completed installations to ensure long-term plant establishment and success Site Evaluation & Execution Planning Evaluate soil conditions, drainage, sun exposure, and microclimates for each project Identify risks that may impact plant health prior to installation Create detailed execution plans for plantings, irrigation, and lighting Coordinate with Project Managers and Field Managers to ensure proper scheduling, labor planning, and execution Facilitate smooth project phasing and site coordination Vendor & Nursery Management Source and inspect plant material from nurseries and vendors Travel when necessary to inspect and approve material Build and maintain strong vendor relationships Organize and maintain nursery material and holding areas Ensure all plant selections align with project budgets and specifications Budgeting & Cost Tracking Review estimates, quantities, and plant budgets for accuracy Track plant-related costs and maintain detailed documentation Identify and resolve discrepancies quickly with designers and estimators Ensure projects remain within budget without compromising quality Irrigation & Lighting Coordination Provide irrigation guidance based on plant requirements Coordinate irrigation and lighting layouts to support plant health and long-term performance Ensure utility placements and system installations do not negatively impact plantings Leadership, Accountability & Communication Uphold and represent GreenRoots values at all times Treat employees, subcontractors, vendors, and customers with professionalism and respect Take ownership of all assigned tasks from start to completion Maintain proactive communication with team members and customers Provide daily updates, project documentation, photos, and JobTread logs Assist with as-builts and marketing support when needed Qualifications Strong horticultural and plant identification knowledge Experience with landscape installation and plant establishment Understanding of irrigation systems and planting practices Strong organizational and project coordination skills Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously Strong communication and leadership abilities Ability to work independently while maintaining accountability Experience in high-end residential landscape construction preferred Pesticide certification preferred or willingness to obtain Success in This Role Looks Like Projects are installed to a consistently high horticultural standard Plant material thrives long after installation Issues are identified and solved proactively Vendors, clients, and team members trust your expertise Execution plans are organized, thorough, and followed through completely GreenRoots standards and values are upheld on every project This role is expected to operate with a high level of ownership, initiative, and accountability while contributing to the long-term success, reputation, and quality standards of GreenRoots Landscaping, LLC.
Pay:
$55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per yearBenefits:
